Police: Important to Increase Awareness of Domestic Violence

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It is a serious issue, but for some reason isn’t talked about enough until for someone its too late. Garden City Police wants to shed the spotlight on Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Officer Tiffany McDermott underscores the importance of learning more.

Kids are the ones who typically start acting out when they are a victim.

The most important thing is to stop the cycle of violence. Officer McDermott says domestic violence usually is a step-by-step process where we only see the final result.

Violence does not just become physical it can be emotional too.

The end result is the perpetrator wants control. Officer McDermott says when they believe abuse has occurred they recommend contact Family Crisis Services.
