Police Arrested Armed Suspect Spotted Near Two Garden City Schools
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Two schools in Garden City were placed on lockdown at the request of police early Tuesday morning around 8 after an armed suspect was reportedly in the area. Students affected were at Charles O. Stones Intermediate and Victor Ornelas Elementary schools on the city’s eastside.
Reports are the suspect was arrested and the lockdown was lifted a short time later. Principals at both schools sent letters home with students notifying parents of what happened.

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) An armed robbery sparked the lockdown of two schools in Garden City early Tuesday morning around 8. Police say the crime occurred on Sarah Street and the suspect identified as 27 Alfonso Morales was on foot walking toward both Charles O. Stones Intermediate and Victor Ornelas Elementary.
Both schools were put on lockdown for about 30 minutes until his arrests. Morales is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, he had already had a warrant issued for a parole violation for performing indecent liberties with a child.
