Plains man dies in motorcycle crash
HASKELL COUNTY — A two-vehicle crash has killed one on Wednesday evening in Haskell County.
A 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Richard Hidalgo, 71, of Plains was headed westbound on U.S. 56 at mile marker 71.6 when a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 driven by John Giesbrecht-Fehr, 34, of Ulysses was also headed westbound. Giesbrecht-Fehr slowed down to turn off of U56, when Hidalgo ran into the side of the trailer that was driven by Giesbrecht-Fehr.
Hidalgo was taken to the Satanta District Hospital where he later died. Giesbrecht-Fehr reported no injuries in the wreck. Hidalgo was not wearing a helmet.
U.S. 56 was closed for a portion of Wednesday evening, but has since reopened.
