Pete Luebbers Obituary
Price & Sons Funeral Home
Pete Luebbers, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at his home in Marienthal, Kansas. He was born on September 14, 1934 in Wichita County, KS, the son of August and Beata [Kreutzer] Luebbers. A lifetime resident of Wichita County, Kansas, Pete was a farmer, auctioneer and rural mail carrier. He also served proudly in the U.S. Army for two years.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal. On February 3, 1959, he married Donna Simmons in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Together, they raised six children.
Pete was a jack of all trades. There was nothing he couldn’t build or fix; and no project was too daunting to tackle. He loved a challenge. He enjoyed playing cards and board games with his family, and he loved winning them even more. Pete was always working on a jigsaw puzzle – the more difficult the better. He loved music, sports, antiques, reading, old western movies, exploring the countryside, and a good cup of coffee with friends. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Donna, sons Preston (Dea) of Colorado Springs, CO and Paul of Emporia, KS; daughters Teresa Lee of Garden City, KS, Anita Hudson of Olathe, KS, and Amy Luebbers (Raoul Lievanos) of Eugene, OR; and his five grandsons, Austin Hudson, Evan Lee, Brendon Luebbers, Drew Luebbers and Javier Luebbers-Lievanos; and three brothers, Gus (LaVerne) of Marienthal, Don (Ruth) of DeRidder, LA and Jerry of Ranier, OR.
He was preceded in death by his son Jim, his parents, his sisters Donna Bea Luebbers, Lenora “Red” O’Neill and Edith Berend; and two brothers, Omer “Boots” and John “Hans”.
