Sublette Schools Make Case on Additional State Money For Education

Sub Superintendent Rex Bruce

Sublette, KS (westernkansasnews.com) While bigger school districts may feel shortchanged because the state would not kick in emergency funds if districts did not see a two percent increase in enrollment, smaller districts did just fine. One of the districts is USD 374 in Sublette which received all they were asking for to make up for falling property valuation.

Oil and gas valuation a big reason behind the drop. Superintendent Rex Bruce led the efforts to get 345-thousand dollars back from the state.

Bruce says reducing their budget would have been difficult after contracts were already approved.
