PenAir Executives Ready to Bring SW Kansas Service

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Representatives of PenAir based out of Alaska and local officials in Ford County met Wednesday just weeks before the airline begins offering daily service to Denver from both Dodge City and Liberal.  PenAir Chief Operating Officer Dave Hall is excited about adding Southwest Kansas to areas they already serve.

Hall believes people will notice a difference.

Part of the problem airport officials in Dodge City reported before were a number of flights had to be cancelled.  The difficulty has been federal regulations needing co-pilots to have as many hours as the pilots.

Although under the same rules, PenAir the new regional carrier from Dodge to Denver beginning September 15th does not envision the same problem.  PenAir Chief Operating Officer Dave Hall says they’ve encountered something else.

Typically Hall’s company has to make 6-8 new hires a year to make up for pilots he lost to national carriers.

Dodge City Airport Director Corey Keller says Great Lakes will end operations September 14th.  PenAir moves in the following day making the transition of service seamless.
