PD: Survival Kit, Pet Care Priorities Before Temperatures Fall
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Temperatures are expected to take a serious tumble this weekend. Highs Saturday are expected in the single digits and will fall throughout the day, lows will flirt with negative 10 with wind chills at 20 below. Before this latest blast of winter hits, it’s a good idea to prepare yourself. Garden City Police 911 Director Kathy Kenstler believes the best way is to get an emergency kit for your car.
As for abandoning your car to let it warm up, it could be an open invitation for someone to take off and leave you without sometime to drive.
Also be aware of this…
Reports now show with the newer model cars, all they need is thirty seconds of warm up before they are ready to drive.
As for pets they also need to be cared for in this type of weather.
In addition watch out for antifreeze. It smells and tastes sweet and if not properly store it could be a killer for your pet.
