Paul Tatro
Paul Tatro, 89, died February 18, 2015 at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit. He was born on June 20, 1925 at Kingman County, the son of Wesley Henry and Mary (Miller) Tatro.
Paul attended the Mead Creek Country school in Kingman County as a child. He joined the United States Armey on November 7, 1945, serving during World War II. Paul was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska during his service. On May 3, 1949, he married Alice Agnes Bayer. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2007. Paul worked as a farmer and dirt mover. He also operated a haying business and the Drive In Cafe in Satanta. In later years, he worked as a custodian at the Seward County Courthouse and St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Liberal and the Satanta High School. Paul enjoyed dancing and he and Alice attended many dances together during their marriage.
He was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Satanta, the Knights of Columbus Council #3381 of Liberal, and the V.F.W. Post #9390 of Satanta.
Paul is survived by six children: Ronald Tatro of Liberal, Rita Dennis of Guymon, Oklahoma, Charles Tatro and wife Karen of Springfield, Missouri, Rose Crum and husband Mike of Sublette, Ruth Mann and husband Lee of Satanta, and Randy Tatro of Plains; one sister, Mary Cunningham of Klamath Falls, Oregan; 17 grandchilren; 40 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Alice, Paul is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, John, Vince, Joseph, James, and George; two sisters, Philemina Sterling and Lillian Revere; and one son-in-law, Charles Dennis.
Vigil Service will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Satanta on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jim Dieker presiding. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Sunday, February 22, 2015 from Noon to 5 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Donor’s Choice in care of the funeral home.
