Patsy “Pat” J. Immell

Patsy “Pat” J. Immell, 82, of Liberal, passed away on April 12, 2017 at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, Oklahoma City.  

She was born on June 25, 1934 at Hooker, Oklahoma. The thirteenth child of W.E. William Ellis and Mary Elizabeth (Cox). She started school in Hooker. Later she and her mother and the younger brothers stayed in rural Lindsey, Oklahoma, with her grandmother Cox before she passed away. While they were there they were lucky enough to have attended a one room school, Rocky Bluff. They eventually moved to Adams, Oklahoma where Pat attended the First Baptist Church, and joined at the church age of fourteen. Pat started playing sports in seventh grade. She especially liked playing basketball. In high school they had some very good players and won their share of games. After her graduation from Adams in 1952, She lived in Perryton, Texas for a short while and then they moved to Liberal, where she met Everette E. “Bert” Immell. They dated for five weeks and were married in Lovington, New Mexico, on February 11th 1957. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1994. They had two boys “Bill” (William F.) and wife Karen of Tulsa,Oklahoma and “Bob” (Robert E.), of Liberal they survive. Patsy worked in retail most of her life. 

Other survivors include three brothers, Joe Brown and wife Dorothy of Liberal and Charlie Brown of Wheeler, Texas, Gene Brown Laverne, Oklahoma. One sister Libby Retzolff of Fairfield, California.

Also survived by three granddaughters – Amy, Deborah and Anna all of Tulsa Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers- Ruben, Ross, Bill, Walter, Robert, and Vernon “Speedy” Brown. Two sisters, Lois Thurman, Bernidene Rich

Visitation will be from 1:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, at Miller Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Rex Petty, officiating.

Burial will take place at Liberal City Cemetery.
