Partington: Several Reasons Finney County Commission Backs Mill Increase
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Finney County Commission has hammered out their proposed budget. County Administrator Randy Partington says several factors were involved in determining the need to request a 1.8 mill levy increase.
Property valuation was down 60 million dollars also complicating attempts to keep the mill down.
Losing oil and gas valuation is a big hit for Finney County.
Critics contend the state needs to change the way they do things to soften the blow for cities and counties.
Oklahoma goes by actual production from the previous year as a key component for determining property valuation. Any changes would have to be done in the Kansas legislature.
