Panfilo Perez, Sr., 72 died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Texas Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was born March 21, 1943 in Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Panfilo Perez and Maria Flores.  
Panfilo moved from Zacatecas, Mexico to Chicago, Illinois in 1976 where he worked as a factory laborer. He later moved to Garden City in 1996 and has lived in Garden City since. He enjoyed gardening, horses, raising chickens, story telling, and making people laugh.  
On June 16, 1965 he married Raquel Salamanca in Zacatecas, Mexico. She survives. Other survivors include 6 sons Andres Perez of Ottumua, Iowa, Joaquin Perez of Chicago, Ill., Raymond Perez of Chicago, Ill., Ernesto Perez of Austin, Tx., Ismael Perez of Garden City, Ks., and Panfilo Perez III of San Antonio, Tx.; two brothers Norberto Perez of Chicago, Ill. And Rogaciano Perez of Mexico; two sisters Josefina Perez of Chicago, Ill. and Eloisa Perez of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 also at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. James E. Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Panfilo Perez Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
