She died on October 2, 1992

Memberships: First Christian Church of Dighton and served as Deacon & Elder
American Legion Post # 190, served in offices and 70 year member

Orval was with the Class of 1944 in Dighton High School. During his Senior year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served on the USS Gilmer as a Fireman First Class in the South Pacific. After his discharge he returned to Dighton and worked as a janitor at Dighton High School while finishing his class work and graduated with the Class of 1947. From 1949 to 1963 he worked at Farmers Oil where he was on the front service area and later the propane truck driver. In 1963 he became the Postmaster at Dighton and served in that job until 1976. He then drove the semi for Mumma Feed Yard which later became Ranger Feeders until he retired. On the road he was known as the Silver Swan and was also well known for always having the cleanest truck on the road. He enjoyed shark tooth hunting and jigsaw puzzles. Orval was a regular blood donor to the American Red Cross and received his 6 Gallon pin in 1995. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, 4 Brothers & 6 Sisters.
