One Dead, Two Injured in Tuesday Accidents

Liberal, KS (westernkansasnews.com) State troopers report a headon collision with a semi resulted in the death of a 62 year old man from Liberal shortly after 7 Tuesday morning.  Michael Riedel’s 2015 Taurus went left of center on US 54, 12 miles east of Liberal.  The driver of the semi 57 year old Guillermo Pimentel of Conroe, Texas was taken to Southwest Medical Center for his injuries.

Two men driving in separate pickups were involved in a crash later in the day shortly before 3:30 on US 50 nine miles west of Cimarron. The Highway Patrol reports 51 year old Daniel Hallbert of Dallas, Oregon was attempting to avert rearending a car in front of him and severed into the opposite lane hitting 31 year old Gregory Mattocks of Lubbock, Texas. 

Both victims were taken to St. Catherine Hospital.  Traffic was rerouted around the accident scene.
