Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) At Monday night’s USD 457 Board of Education meeting in Garden City Superintendent Rick Atha tenured his resignation effective July 1st. School District Public Information Coordinator Roy Cessna says for Atha this was a personal decision.

Atha came to Garden City after serving as Assistant Superintendent in Raytown, Missouri. Still Atha has a lot to be proud of after 10 years leading Garden City schools.

The board accepted Atha’s resignation on a roll call vote. Doctor Atha made no public comments afterward.  Now that Dr. Atha is leaving, who will take charge in finding his successor?

Cessna is not worried about the short time frame needed to have someone in place by this summer.

Atha’s resignation is effective July 1.
