Officers Remember Those That Have Fallen

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Its held every May 15th, Peace Officers Memorial Day. Garden City Police Chief James Hawkins on what remembering on this special date.

The ceremony remembers 19-thousand officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

President Kennedy was the first to recognize the importance of this occasion back in 1962.  The event was held this morning outside the Finney County Law Enforcement Center.
