Odelia Ybarra, age 80, of Ulysses, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born March 20, 1939 at Winters, Texas the daughter of A.C. and Concepcion Esquivel.

Odelia married Candido (Cande) Ybarra on July 6, 1957 in Munday, Texas.

Munday was home for the family until 1971, when they moved to Ulysses, Kansas.  Odelia was employed by USD #214 and worked as a custodian for 22 years at Kepley Middle School.  She retired in 1997. Odelia’s joy was following the grandkids to all of their activities. She especially loved baking birthday cakes for them.  Other hobbies included gardening, crocheting, listening to music and dancing with her daughters.  

Survivors include her husband, Candido Ybarra, three daughters;  Yolanda Velasquez and husband Larry of Ulysses, Kansas; Sylvia Haun and husband Chuck of Garfield, Arkansas and Delma DeLeon and husband Robert of Garden City, Kansas, one son-in-law; Alex DeLeon of Garden City, Kansas husband of deceased daughter Lilia DeLeon, three brothers; Rudy Esquivel and wife Vickie of Austin, Texas, James Esquivel of Ulysses, Kansas and Robert Esquivel of Munday, Texas, one sister; Lucinda Alcala and husband Isidro of Ulysses, Kansas, seven grandchildren; Larry Paul Velasquez, Brooke Velasquez, Allison Medina, Alex (Ay Jay) DeLeon, Aaron DeLeon, Corey DeLeon, Davida DeLeon and seven great-grandchildren.  

Odelia is preceded in death by her parents; A.C. and Concepcion Esquivel, one daughter;  Lila DeLeon, two great-granddaughters; Ariana DeLeon and Alicia Velasquez, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Oasis Church, Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Ralph Franco officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas. Visitation will be from 2:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas.
