NOAA Weather All Hazards station in Ulysses ceasing operations December 31

Ulysses, Kan.–The National Weather Service has annoucned that a local NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards station transmitter will shut down, effective Tuesday, December 31.

National Weather Service Weather All Hazards station WXN81 in Ulysses, which operated at 162.450 Megahertz, will no longe be available for use. The station provided weather information, including watch and warning alerts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to weather radios and was part of a network of over 1,000 transmitters in all 50 states operated by local National Weather Service Offices.The transmitter served portions of nine Kansas Counties, as well as small portions of Colorado and Oklahoma.

Listeners will be able to receive forecasts, alerts and warning information by using one or more of the following alternate NWR transmitters: Grant County, KS WXK93 162.475, KJY96 162.500 & WNG555 162.425; Morton County, KS KJY96 162.500; Stanton County, KS WN60 162.525; Hamilton County, KS KWN60 162.525 & WWG22 162.550; Kearny County, KS WWG22 162.550, WXK93 162.475 & WNG535 162.525; Finney County, KS WXK93 162.475 & WNG535 162.525; Haskell County, KS WXK93 162.475 & WNG555 162.425; Stevens County, KS KJY96 162.500, WXK93 162.475 & WNG555 162.425; Seward County, KS WXK93 162.475, KJY96 162.500 & WNG555 162.425.
