Night 2 of GCCC NIRA Rodeo

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Garden City Community College hosted night two of the NIRA Rodeo on Saturday night. Below are the results from the night session.

In the barrel racing Garden City Community College’s Kenzie Jones registered the second fastest time of the night with 15.17. Shanna Simmons from Southwestern Oklahoma State had the top time at 14.98. Panhandle State’s Bridget Merrigan was third at 15.29.

Garden City’s Payton Welsh tied for second in the goat tie with time of 8.1. ShiAnn Henderson from Southeastern Oklahoma State topped the group with a 7.2. Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Aundrea Dufrane also posted an 8.1.

In bareback there were only three registered times, Dylan Riggins from OPSU topped the bunch with a 73. Fort Scott’s Cory Brown had a 69 and Michael McCamman had a 63.

Colton Kofoed from Western Oklahoma State College topped the Calf Roping with an 8.5. His teammate Shane Smith wasn’t far behind with a 9.1. Ethan Price from Northwestern Oklahoma State was third for the night with a 9.8.

In break away Kansas State’s Cara Jolly finished first for the night with a time of 2.8. Jacy Ward from Conners State wasn’t far behind at 3.1 and OPSU’s Kaylee Smith registered a 3.4.

OPSU’s Dawson Dahm topped the saddle bronc night session with a 74. Just behind him was Dalton Testerman from Fort Scott with a 73, OPSU’s Preston Ogle registered a 70.

In steer wrestling Steven Richmond from Northeastern Oklahoma topped the group with a 4.5. OPSU’s Lane Giovanetti had a 4.9 and Western Oklahoma State College’s Zane Thompson posted a 5.8.

In team roping only three teams registered times. The top time of 6.9 was from NWOSU’s Kass Bittle and OPSU’s Nolan Richie. CFC’s CJ and Lane Reeves were right behind with a  7.0. Western Oklahoma’s Zane Thompson and Haven Meged posted a 16.6. The top team in the region, Garden City’s Tucker McClain and Gunnar Stapleton failed to post a time Saturday night.

In the bull riding there were only three registered scores. Southeastern’s Fulton Rutland topped the group with a 75. SWOSU’s Nathan Hatchel wasn’t far behind with a 71 and OPSU’s Callum Miller had a 68.

The Rodeo will conclude Sunday afternoon with the events beginning at 1:30 p.m.
