New Mexico man dies in Meade County crash

Meade County, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–A New Mexico man died Wednesday night in a rollover crash east of Meade.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, a 2016 Kia Forte driven by 37-year-old Austin J. Wagoner of Albuquerque, New Mexico was eastbound on U.S. Highway 54, when he crossed the center line and the eastbound lanes, traveled through the median, struck a culvert, vaulted over U.S. Highway 160, rolled an unknown amount of times, and vaulted again over a barbed wire fence and came to rest. The accident occurred just after 10:30 pm.

Wagoner was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Dodge City, where he was pronounced dead.

The KHP report stated that he was wearing a seatbelt.
