[Garden City, KS] January 6, 2022 — Garden City Community College named Mike Pilosof as the new Director of Athletics during a press conference on Thursday afternoon inside Conestoga Arena. He previously served as Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director.

Dr. Ruda, GCCC President, stated two rounds of interviews were held featuring both internal and external candidates.
“As we embarked on this journey, we wanted to bring an individual in who identifies with the Buster Values at Garden City Community College, somebody who understands innovation, integrity, and who understands the importance of working with people, both internal and external,” Dr. Ruda said. “We wanted someone who would be trustworthy and accountable as a leader who will also be student-centered in their focus. It became clear that the best fit for this role was someone already known and dedicated to GCCC, Mike Pilosof.”
“Our new AD brings a strong work ethic with a high degree of integrity, inquisitiveness, and love of Garden City Community College athletics and this community.” Dr. Ruda added.
Pilosof holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies from the University of Las Vegas and will complete his Master of Education in sports management from the University of Kansas this coming May.

“This press conference is not about me, it’s about our athletic department and it’s about Garden City Community College,” Pilosof stated. “I’m in this position because of the administration, the coaches, and the faculty. And I don’t take that lightly.” He then proceeded to thank those who helped him get to this point, including his parents, wife, children, and the coworkers and friends he’s made in the Garden City community.
Pilosof has served as both the Sports Information Director and Assistant Athletic Director at GCCC, a position he has held since 2016. At the same time, he spent seven years as the Sports Director at the Western Kansas Broadcast Center where he was the voice of both Garden City Community College and Garden City High School.

Pilosof’s background is in radio play-by-play, and journalism. Additionally, he has his own production company, Pilosof Films, which specializes in commercial, sports, and wedding cinematography. His wife, Amber, is a registered nurse at Siena Medical Clinic and works in the college health department. Together, they have four children: Ryan (17), Gavin (17), Connor (14), and Benjamin (12).
