Miguel Palacios Martinez

Miguel Palacios Martinez, age 67, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. He was born June 22, 1951, in Durango, Mexico, the son of Feliciano and Adela (Martinez) Palacios.

Miguel grew up in Mexico and moved to Elkhart in 1997. He married Manuela Portillo in 1975 in Mexico. Miguel enjoyed working on his farm and working with animals. He also liked making people laugh and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Carmen Palacios of Elkhart, Miguel Angel Palacios of Mexico, Maria Guadalupe Palacios of Mexico, and Martha Julieta Palacios of Mexico; brothers, Pedro Palacios of Texas, Juan Palacios of Elkhart, Angel Palacios of Colorado, and Isaias Palacios of Elkhart; sister, Amanda Palacios of Mexico; and seven grandchildren.

Miguel is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Manuela, in 2017.

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 2019, at 4:00 PM at First Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas, with Pastor Hiram Urquidez officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM and Friday, April 12, 2019, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
