Miguel Barbosa

Miguel Barbosa, age 90, died Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Homestead Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. He was born May 8, 1923 at Rangel, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Secundino Barbosa and María Del Refugio (Martinez) Barbosa. Miguel married Maria Del Socorro Martin in 1953 at Jalisco, Mexico. She died in 1961. He married Maria Del Refugio Viscencio in 1964 in Jalisco, Mexico.

Mr. Barbosa had lived in the Garden City and Southwest Kansas since 1979 moving here from Jalisco Mexico. He worked mostly in the Feedyard industry, most recently at Brookover Feedyard for ten years. He loved riding horses and had a knack for telling stories of his youth. He enjoyed watching baseball and gazing at the moon on cloudless nights.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Del Refugio (Viscencio) Barbosa of Garden City, Kansas; children, Bernardo Barbosa of Guymon, Oklahoma, Miguel Angel Barbosa of Fairburn, Georgia, Gerardo Barbosa of Palemetto, Georgia, Luz Maria Barbosa of Jalsico, Mexico, Martina Guevara of Garden City, Kansas, Maria Rita Martinez of Ark City, Kansas, Carmen Julia Barbosa of Jalisco, Mexico, Juan Jose Barbosa of Jalisco, Mexico; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and two infant sons.

Visitation: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Garnand Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Seiwert officiating.

Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at St Mary Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be given to Miguel M. Barbosa Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
