Merri “Pete” Peters
Merri “Pete” Peters died in Wichita, Kansas. She was raised in Dodge City making many life-long friends. Her father delighted in her motorcycle racing skills taking her across the country to race and she had just as much fun as he did. Merri loved playing sports and loved partying with her softball family.
She enjoyed and excelled at her job with Cintas and then Shredd It. She enjoyed interactions with her clients and keeping them happy.
Her last year was spent traveling and taking cruises. She visited Canada, Alaska, Mexico, New Orleans, Haiti, Boston, and more. She traveled with friends and family and on her own. She was not afraid to fly to a destination on her own in spite of her mobility issues. She made many new life-long friends in her travels.
She was a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews. She thoroughly loved not being the parent and leading the nieces/nephews into some sort of mischief.
Merri had a wicked sense of humor she continued to display even as her health declined. Many times she would have her care-givers in stitches.
Merri is survived by her brother and sister, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, a great-nephew along with many cousins including a special cousin, Donna. Her Uncle Stanley, Aunt Janet, Aunt Ruth and many friends survive her. Merri was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday March 8, 2017 from 9:00 AM to service time. Friends and family are asked to wear their favorite team shirt and jeans. Merri loved sports, her jeans and t-shirts, and this is a way to honor her. The family respectfully requests no flowers or plants. Memorials can be made to the Ford County Humane Society honoring Merri’s love for her dog, Goldie, or the Harry Hynes Hospice. A huge thank you to the many friends and family who rallied around her with much appreciated cards and messages of love.
