Linda and Ron are accomplished musicians, outstanding professionals, and civic contributors. They are regularly seen performing music around the area or serving on various civic boards and committees in Garden City. The duo will be exhibiting mostly recent artwork made after taking a few art courses at GCCC but will also have some early works on display. Each of them has had an appreciation and love for the visual arts for the majority of their lives. The work in the exhibition with go from representational, to abstract, to non-objective. Linda’s artwork is inspired by the simple playful shapes of Henri Matisse and the bold brushwork of Birger Sandzén, while Ron’s artwork explores geometric abstraction inspired by Piet Mondrian, playful line work of Joan Miró, and the chance of Gerhard Richter.
The show title, “Red and Other Colors,” comes from Ron’s infatuation with the color. Ron can be quoted saying “I love Red, it’s the best color,” on a regular basis.
