Meade pilot not injured after plane strikes windmill

LIBERAL, Kan. — The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a call of a plane down on Monday morning in southwest Kansas. The pilot of the crop duster plane was not injured when the wing of the aircraft clipped a windmill tower.

According to the KHP, a fixed-wing, single-engine crop duster was flying northbound when it’s right wing struck the windmill just east of Liberal. The aircraft hit the ground and slid to a stop facing south.

The pilot, Craig Stratton, 61, of Meade, had no apparent injuries according to the KHP report. 

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the aircraft has been registered to Crop-Serv Inc. out of Meade since 2016.
