Meade Boys, Kiowa County Girls take home top three finishes
(Wichita) (westernkansasnews.com)–The Meade Buffalo boys took home the state runner-up trophy in the 2012 State Track & Field meet Friday and Saturday at Wichita’s Cessna Stadium. Meade was one point short of tying for the top spot with the Plainville Cardinals. Ness City also was a top 10 team finisher from the area, as they placed sixth. For the boys, area gold medalists included Nick Borth sweeping both hurdle races, and Joseph Iman from Elkhart won the 3200m run Friday evening. Meade also got a first place finish from Dylan Reimer in the Javelin.
For the girls, the Lady Mavericks of Kiowa County came in third place, while Ness City came in fifth and Stanton County eighth as a team. Leading the charge for Kiowa County was sophomore Heather Melton. She would win the high jump Friday and the 100m High Hurdles Saturday. Melton was also on the 4x100m Relay team is sixth.
