Marietta R. Burtis

Marietta R. Burtis, age 60, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born June 18, 1953 at Garden City, the daughter of Raymond A. & Elsie M. (Borlisch) Wishon. marietta married Spencer H. Burtis on November 14, 1969 at Clayton, New Mexico.

Marietta attended Garden City schools and was a lifetime Garden City resident. Her special interest was landscaping her yard with plants and flowers and gardening. She taught Bible studies and enjoyed playing the guitar, reading the Bible and taking care of animals. She was a mother to all, loved by many nieces and nephews. Everything she touched blossomed to life. Marietta was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers- Raymond “Bud” Wishon, Jr., Chester Edward Wishon & Marion Joseph Wishon & 2 sisters- Dorothy Shipley & Delores Miller.

Survivors: husband, Spencer H. Burtis of the home; 2 daughters, Samara (Summer) Hunter of Lady Lake, Florida, Sarah Burtis of the home; son, Aaron Burtis of the home; brother, Arnold Wishon of Garden City; twin sister, Loretta Wishon of Garden City; sisters, Leeta Dingus of Holcomb, Patricia Baier of Holcomb; and 3 grandsons & 2 granddaughters.

Visitation: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, and 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday , at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. 

Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness with English Congregation of Garden City Jehovah’s Witness officiating.
Interment: Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield. 

Memorials may be given to the Watch Tower in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
