She and her family lived in several different places during the Great Depression; finally settling in Denver, Colorado. While growing up Margie had the opportunity to learn to play the piano and violin as well as take voice lessons. After high school, she attended the Teacher College of Hays, Kansas. After graduating, she took a teaching position at the Waechter School located in Kearny County, Kansas. That is where she met a handsome young man by the name of Lewis Robert Moore. Margie and Robert were married in Denver, Colorado on May 20, 1949 and to that union six children were born. Margie and Robert farmed in the southern part of Kearny County, Kansas until 2008 when they moved in to Ulysses.
Margie has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1957. She held numerous teaching, music and leadership positions over the years. Margie loved music and many people have enjoyed hearing her beautiful soprano voice. Her children have fond memories of hearing their mother whistling songs as she went through her day. She was an avid collector of records and she made sure her home was always full of music. Being very artistic, Margie spent years doing ceramics, decoupage and, lately, 3D wall art. Over the years she has made many memorable artistic gifts for her children and grandchildren.
Margie also loved gardening and spent endless hours working in her flower beds and vegetable garden. She enjoyed canning and making jelly. Her home was always filled with plants. Other interests included being on a bowling team for many years, doll making and doing puzzles.
