Margaret J. Hedstrom
Margaret J. Hedstrom, 84, died Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Rolling Hills Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, Wichita, Kansas.
She was born November 14, 1930 at Camden, New Jersey, the daughter of William and Margaret Kunze Mason. A Wichita resident since 1999, moving from Dodge City.
She worked for Wal-mart as a switchboard operator until her retirement in 2005. She was an active volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program in USD 259, and the Senior Companion Program of Wichita. She attended College Hills United Methodist Church volunteering many hours with programs. Also, an active League of Women Voters member, she assisted with voter registrations, elections and various other projects.
On July 22, 1952 she married Delbert Carl Hedstrom at Atlantic City, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1979.
Survivors include: Two brothers, John Mason and Edward Mason. Her two sisters Shirley Don, and Dorothy Battaglia. Daughter, Belyndae Johanningsmeier, Wichita, Kansas and Stephen, son-in-law. Adopted daughter Jaclyn Mills. Three grandchildren, Kembierle Turnbow, Big Spring, Texas. Jeremiah Turnbow and spouse, Sara, Wichita, Kansas. Brock Turnbow and spouse, Brenda, Wichita, Kansas. Seven great –grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by both of her parents in 1993, William Mason of Philadelphia, and Margaret Mason of New Jersey.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City, with family members. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
