Margaret E. “Maggie” Hahn
Margaret E. “Maggie” Hahn, 66 died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born July 30, 1949 in Garden City the daughter of Earl & Mabel (Gillan) Dougherty.
Maggie grew up in Garden City. She graduated from Garden City High School in 1967 and later attended Garden City Community College. On August 17, 1968 she married Kenneth N. Hahn in Garden City. They moved to Liberal, Kansas after their marriage. In 1995, Maggie moved back to Garden City and has lived here since. Maggie worked various jobs throughout her life, most of which involved a constant dedication to helping children in need. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City and a member of the Eagle’s Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and volunteering at St. Catherine Hospital and the Finney County Senior Center.
Survivors include six children Jenni Hahn of Ponca City, Ok., Jason and wife Staci Hahn of Lakin, Ks., John Hahn of Garden City, Ks., Julie & husband Jeremy Farr of Garden City, Ks., Jerry & wife Vanessa Hahn of Garden City, Ks., and Jacob & wife Alishea Hahn of Deerfield, Ks.; two sisters Colleen Jackson of Garden City, Ks. and Deby Miller of Overland Park, Ks.; and eleven grandchildren Sheldon & wife Dena Hibler, Brandon Hibler, Conner Henness, Tristina Hahn, Kasiti Hahn, Trenton Hahn, Ashton Hahn, Matthew Hernandez, Madison Farr, Jayce Farr, and Ethan Hahn. Maggie is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth who died on August 10, 1994. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jim Doughterty.
A vigil service and rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 9 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Fr. Reginald A. Urban presiding. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family requests memorials given to the Maggie Hahn Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
