Marcella Marcotte
Marcella Marcotte of Garden City, KS finished her life’s journey and went to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, February 17, 2017 in Parker, CO.
She was born on March 9, 1923 in Damar, KS. to Oliver and Lillie (Balthazar) Gosselin. She graduated from Bogue High School and went on to attend Marymount College in Salina, KS. She married Leo Marcotte from Clyde, KS. on Feb.10, 1947. Marcella was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for seventy years. She was employed for several decades as the Secretary to both St. Mary’s and St. Dominic’s Catholic Rectories. She established many tremendous and meaningful relationships throughout her life. She was a most loving, generous and selfless woman to all of her family and friends, and she would do anything she could to help anyone. Marcella was encouraging, energetic, and beautiful inside and out. She brought joy, fun, and laughter to anyone who ever had the good fortune to meet her, and everyone became an instant friend. Her generosity and empathy for others, the ability to listen, understand, console and motivate were hallmarks of her personality. She loved to tease and be teased and Marcella will be greatly missed! She passed away peacefully in her bed concluding her battle with Alzheimer’s. She leaves to cherish her memory, children: Marcia Bailey (Cimarron, KS) and three sons, Gary Jr., Dr. Neal, and John; Phyllis Farris (and husband, Clyde) of St. Louis, MO. and daughters, Michelle and Tonya; Elaine Marcotte of Sedgwick, KS and three children, Nate, Katie, and Amanda; Lois Green (and husband, Richard) of Parker, CO. and their two sons, Justen and Christopher; and, Francis Marcotte (and wife, Judy) of Keenesburg, CO. and their three children, Garrett, Mahalia, and Jeremy. Marcella leaves a sister, Simonne Weigang of Longmont, Co, along with 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her Husband Leo who died on November 17, 1991. She is also preceded in death by her eldest son, Vincent on January 2, 2015, two sons-in-law Gary Bailey and Gary Simon, her parents, two sisters: Eileen Wilkes and Eda McEnany; and three brothers: Alpha, Elmer and Andrew Gosselin.
The family thanks Porter Hospice for their compassionate care of Marcella during her last days.
A Rosary will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, February 25, 2017 beginning at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will also be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family will be at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday to visit with friends. The family request memorials given to St. Mary Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association, both in care of the funeral home.
