Liberal, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)—The Garden City High School Lady Buffaloes thrived off of early hitting Tuesday afternoon in Liberal. After the girls had been off for three weeks, Trina Moquiett wasn’t quite sure if the ladies extra rest would help going back into WAC play.

The Lady Buffs wasted no time at the top of the first inning. Orniston would walk Jesy Foster and Bri Manwarren, and elite stealing from Foster would put the Buffs up 1-0. With Manwarren on 2nd, Yassena Castro would hit a single RBI to drive in Manwarren. Piper Harris and Kamy Foster would bring in a pair, and Ryan Warren would finish the Inning after reaching on a dropped third strike, putting Garden City up 5-0 in the first inning.

Manwarren wasted no time on the mound going three up, three down to help the Buffs get back to the bat in the top of the second. Serrano would single in an RBI with Jesy Foster, to make it 7-0 heading into the bottom of the second. Manwarren would find three more strikeouts heading back into the top of the third.

Ryan Warren would start things with a bang hitting a home run for the first time this season with a line drive over the left field fence. A solo trip around the bags was just what the lady buffs needed. Momentum helped to find a double RBI from Bri Manwarren bringing in Gabby and Emma Ortiz, making it 10-0 heading into the bottom of the third.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Lady Buffs would keep things rolling after Bri Manwarren would hit a double RBI to bring Jesy Foster back across the dish. Manwarren would reach on a dropped ball error to make it 12-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth.

Manwarren would find three final strike outs (11) helping the Buffaloes run rule Liberal in five innings 12-0.

Garden City moves to 4-2 on the season and will host Liberal Thursday afternoon at 4:00 PM. You can listen to the double header on 99.9 The Rock.
