Victims, Suspect Identified in Dodge City Weekend Shooting

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) At 10:25 Sunday morning, Dodge City Police were called out to a shooting at the Waters True Value on West Frontview Street. Upon arrival officers spotted a man with a gunshot wound in the parking lot. 55 year old Jesus Ochoa-Morales was rushed to Western Plains Medical Complex where the man later died.

Moments later, police were told the same man believed to have killed Ochoa-Morales abducted a woman identified 48 year old Maria Monreal outside the Wal-Mart on 14th Avenue. An hour later the car belonging to the suspect 58 year old Isaias Monreal was found on the 400 block of Crawford. As police approached the man, he shot the woman and then turned the gun on himself. Maria Monreal later died from her injuries. Isaias Monreal was taken by helicopter to a Wichita area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Police continue their investigation.
