Loy L. Anthony, age 76, of Ulysses, KS died Friday, February 27, 2015 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, KS.  He was born October 18, 1938 at his grandparents’ home in Satanta, KS, the son of Elwin and Maude Ellen (Wright) Anthony.

Loy grew up in Satanta, KS and graduated from Satanta High School.  He was a farmer and stockman in Haskell and Grant County.  He later sold farm equipment, retiring from Hoskinson Implement in Sublette.  Many people collect things, Loy collected friends.  Loy was very active in the Ulysses Community.  He worked with the 4-H Clubs, serving as Horse Superintendent for many years.  Loy served on the Grant County Extension Council.  He was a life-time member of the Bit and Spur Club and was honored at the club’s 2006 rodeo.  In 2013 at the Grant Co. Parade he was selected as one of the “Friend of Fair”.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed hunting and team roping. 

On September 16, 1983, Loy married Ginger Greenwood in Satanta, KS.

Survivors are:  his wife, Ginger, of the home; children, Loy (Von) Anthony, II and wife Susan of Ulysses, KS, Tod Anthony and wife Elaine of Lakin, KS and Chris Christian and wife Cheryl of Garden City, KS, Kim Wright and husband Mike of Gasquet, CA, Carrie VanMeter of Tyrone, OK and Camie Konicek and J.D. Perry of Leoti, KS; one brother, Larry Anthony and wife Angie of Globe, AZ; one sister, Wynola Osbon and husband Carl of Sublette, KS, one sister-in-law; Betty Anthony of Satanta, KS; grandchildren, Loy (Tony) Anthony, III , Courtney Anthony, Ryan Anthony, Zachary Anthony, Justine Anthony, Matthew Anthony,  Benjamin Anthony, Tabitha Zermeno, Brancen Wright, Corie DeShazo, Cassidy Livingood, Clinton Christian, Coy Christian, Libby Collins, Justice VanMeter, Storie Foster, Nation VanMeter, Patriot VanMeter, Anna Peterson, Kai Konicek, Callie Konicek, Britney Konicek and Clay Konicek; eleven great-grandchildren; and two special dogs, Lady and Tuff.

Loy is preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Garry Anthony.

Funeral service will be held Monday, March 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, KS with Reverend Janet Hernandez presiding.  Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, KS.  Friends may call on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas.  Family requests memorials be given to First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, KS, Ulysses Animal Shelter or Historic Adobe Museum in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
