Louis Angeles “Sonny” Huber

Louis Angeles “Sonny” Huber, owner of Huber Sand Inc., died Friday, November 13, 2015 at the age of 81. He took his last breath surrounded by his family as they prayed Psalm 23 over him.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Lundquist) Huber; his eight children and their spouses, Robin and Debra Huber, Donna Meinert, Henry and Patty Huber, Rick and Marcy Huber, Mike and Julie Huber, Jeff and Karleen Huber, Soni and Rick Brimm, Dewey and Sherina Huber; thirty-two grandchildren; and sixty-one great grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of Garden City, the son of Jake Henry & Maurine (Angeles) Huber, he was the oldest of eight children. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Huber and Robert Huber. He has five surviving siblings, Ann Burgess, Palla Lang, Pam Kemp, Terry Huber, and John Huber.
After marrying his high-school sweetheart and the love of his life, Louis bought his first gravel truck and started his own trucking company while becoming a family man and devoting his life to raising eight children.
In 1978 Louis started a sand and gravel mining company with his eldest son. This endeavor grew into a well-known family business, Huber Sand Inc.
Louis was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Kansas Walleye Association, the Lowrance Pro Team Walleye Circuit, and the National Professional Anglers Association. He loved fishing with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and there was always an argument over who would be his partner for the Father’s Day Fishing Tournament in Nebraska.
If he wasn’t fishing or playing double down poker in a casino, you could find him gardening. Louis tended his multi-acre garden with much attention growing a multitude of fresh fruits and vegetables for his family and employees.
A hard working man, Louis kept family his top priority.
