Longhorns sweep KC Christian
Lady Longhorns roll 66 – 22
The Holcomb Lady Longhorns rode the shooting and defense of Taylor Deniston and Jordan Jarnigan to a 66 – 22 romp over the Kansas City Christian Panthers in the opening game of the Clarion Southwest Classic. Deniston finished with 24 points, hitting 4 3-pointers on the night and scoring several baskets off turnovers. Jarnigan tossed in 18 points to go along with 6 rebounds and Eboni Sapien added 11 points and 5 boards.
The Lady Longhorns will play Pueblo East Friday night, with pregame beginning at 5:45 on AM 1030 KBUF.
Longhorn boys blast KC Christian 75-34
The nightcap looked much like the opener, as Holcomb led 24-10 after one quarter and built a 32 point lead by halftime, 51-10. The Longhorns led 73-28 by the end of the third quarter and Coach Chad Novack cleared his bench for the final stanza. Trey Sleep led the way in scoring with 22 points and Dalton Gottschalk had a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Brandon Stegman added 14 points off the bench, hitting 4 shots from beyond the arc in the second quarter.
The Longhorns will face Pueblo East Friday night, following the girls’ game.
