Brady Trenkle’s bunch will try and rebound from a tough, seven-point loss to No. 25 North Platte on Saturday. But the Busters’ road doesn’t get any easier tonight as they welcome in the sharpshooters from Otero.
“Where as North Plate had one guy that could beat you from three, these guys have two,” Trenkle said. “That makes it very tough to guard.”
The good news for Trenkle is that his team is slowly turning into a defensive juggernaut. Opposing teams are shooting just 40 percent against Garden City and they’ve held three of their four opponents under 60 points.
“Our offense will come,” Trenkle said. “But we are turning back the clocks with our defense.”
Meantime the Rattlers come into the Perryman Athletic Conference having won three striaght games, including a 28-point triumph over Ft. Carson on Saturday. They’re also coming off a second straight trip to the Region IX title game; first time they’ve ever done that in program history.
Otero is led by sophomore Chris Golden, who’s averaging 22.5 points per game. The veteran guard from Wisconsin is coming off a 26 point, four rebound performance against Carson.
