Lippelmann selected to KWCA Hall of Fame
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–On Wednesday, the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association released their award winners for the 2018-19 season, as well as Hall of Fame Inductees. Longtime Scott City Head Coach Jon Lippelmann was one of three former coaches selected for induction for the KWCA Hall of Fame.
Lippelmann was part of the Scott City wrestling program for 38 years, and was the head coach for the Beavers for 34 of those seasons. He retired as head coach in 2018. In those 34 seasons as the head coach, Lippelmann guided Scott City to five state titles, two runner-up finishes, one third place finish and 14 top five finishes. The five state championships were won in four different decades. He also won 325 duals over his career, to go along with 18 league championships. Under his tenure, the Beavers had 237 state qualifiers, 113 state medalists and 24 state champions. Out of the state qualifiers, there were four multiple state champions, one three-time state champion and one four-time state placer.
Lippelmann will be recognized by the KWCA during their awards ceremony and Hall of Fame Banquet on October 5 in Salina. His picture will hang up on the wall with the other Hall of Fame members inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
Also joining him in the Hall of Fame this year is former Minneapolis Coach Jeff Giles and former Clay Center Coach Jerry Fraser.
