Liberal sweeps Dodge City baseball
Liberal, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Dodge City High School baseball dropped both games at Liberal Tuesday 7-4 and 8-2. The losses drop the Red Demons to 0-4 in WAC play.
Game one
Liberal(12-2, 4-0) jumped out to 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never trailed. Dodge tied the game in the top of the fourth 3-3, but the Redskins responded in the bottom half with two runs to make it 5-3. Adrian Mendoza got the loss on the mound pitching two innings in relief and giving up 3 runs on four hits. Max Valles got the win for Liberal going two innings and giving up just 1 run on 4 hits.
Cesar Burciaga led the Redskins in batting going 2-3 with 2 RBI. For Dodge City Blaine Winans went 1-3 with 2 RBI.
Game two
Dodge City(5-7, 0-4) scored first jumping to a 1-0 in top of the first and then made it 2-0 in the top of the third. In the bottom half Liberal responded with four runs and never looked back, adding two insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Javier Bojorquez got the win for the Redskins pitching 4.1 innings and giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Roman Rodriguez got the loss for the Red Demons going 3 innings and giving up 4 runs on 3 hits.
Francisco Terrazas led Liberal in batting going 1-3 with 2 RBI. For Dodge City Alden Knedler and Adrian Mendoza both went 1-3 with an RBI.
