Liberal scores late to beat Dodge City
Dodge City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Dodge City High School football team fell to Liberal Friday night 34-29 following a late Redskin touchdown.
With 15 seconds to play Liberal QB Syris Dunlap hit Tyrique Chandler for a 42 yard touchdown to put the Redskins ahead for good.
Dunlap accounted for four touchdowns, three rushing and one passing. Cesar Burciaga had one rushing touchdown, following an interception he returned to the Dodge City 1-yard line.
With Beau Foster out for the season Dawson Williams stepped back into the QB role on senior night and had a tremendous performance. Williams ran the ball 50 times for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Jaiel Johnson scored the other Dodge City touchdown on a 44 yard run on the Red Demons first offensive play.
With the regular season over Dodge City(3-5, 1-3) will go on the road next Friday to play defending state champion Derby(7-1).
