Lewis Molz, 88 of Deerfield, Kansas died Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home in Deerfield, Kansas. He was born March 4, 1929 at a country home northwest of Derfield to Henry and Emma (Gropp) Molz. Lewis grew up in the Deerfield community.
A Korean Veteran, serving from 1951 to 1953, Lewis served in the 3rd Infantry Division in the 10th Field Artillery. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Commendation Medal and the Korean War Medal.
Lewis is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lakin where he held various church offices. 
On August 8, 1954, he married Agnes Kleeman at Deerfield. Lewis served 13 years on the Deerfield USD 216 School Board and on the ASCS County Committee for 10 years. Lewis was a farmer and stockman in Kearny County.  
Survivors include his wife Agnes of the home; a son Irvin Molz of Lakin, Kansas; 3 daughters Ann Young of Hays, Kansas, Helen Molz of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lois Lenkner of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; 2 brothers Otis Molz of Deerfield, Kansas and Ronald Molz of Westminster, Colorado; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Esther Esch; and a grandson Brendan Young.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakin with Pastor Patrick Gumz officiating. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Catherine Hospice or to the Heartland Cancer Center both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin.
