Leroy Cruz
Leroy Cruz, 63 died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 14, 1952 in Clayton, New Mexico the son of Arthur & Mary Fae (Vigil) Cruz.
Leroy grew up and lived most of his life in Garden City. He attended Garden City schools. Leroy worked as a roofer for Berry Roofing and for D.V. Douglas Roofing. He enjoyed fishing, playing, cards, playing pool, playing dominos, and gardening.
On August 23, 1995, he married Betty Curnette in Garden City. She died on June 2, 2008. Leroy is also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Freddie Cruz and Richard Cruz; and a sister Belinda Cruz. Survivors include three children Donna Hildebrandt & husband Frank Capetillo of Garden City; Valentino Cruz of Garden City; and Brandon Cruz of Garden City; six sisters Sally Acevedo of Wichita, Ks., Teresa Crunette of Garden City, Ks., Julie Irsik of Elkhart, Ks., Stella Flores of Ulysses, Ks., Berta Dominguez of Garden City, Ks., and Bernice Maldonado of Seguin, Tx.; two brothers Jesse Cruz of Wichita, Ks. and Carl Cruz of Garden City, Ks.; and a granddaughter Brandie Cruz of Garden City, Ks.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
