Leola “Nana” Lillian Lindsey
Leola “Nana” Lillian Lindsey, 89, died October 8, 2016 at Hill Top House in Bucklin. She was born on October 1, 1927 in Stavely, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of George and Gladys (Rumley) Lund.
Leola was raised in Canada. She met C.O. Lindsey and in April of 1945, they were married in Texas. During the early years of their marriage they moved several times before coming to Dodge City in the early 1960’s. After the move to Dodge City, Leola began her college education at Dodge City Community College. She completed the Licensed Practical Nurse program and started her nursing career as a labor and delivery nurse at Humana Hospital in Dodge City. Leola retired from nursing in the early 1990’s. She had recently been a resident at Hill Top House in Bucklin. Nana, as she was known by family and friends, was an avid KU Basketball fan and also enjoyed music and cooking. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Cornelius Episcopal Church of Dodge City and was very active in church activities.
Nana is survived by two daughters, Shawna Culver and husband Mark and Sharyn Logan and husband Geoff all of Dodge City; eight grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, C.O. Lindsey; her parents; a daughter, Shauna Sue Lindsey; and nine brothers and sisters.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Thursday October 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Friends may sign the book at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday October 12, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The casket will remain closed.
