Legislature to Look at New Ways of Handling Juvenile Justice
Lakin, KS (westernkansasnews.com) A discussion on juvenile justice is well underway a few weeks before the next legislative session begins in Topeka. At issue is helping young offenders change their ways so they do not repeat the same mistakes as adults.
House Representative Russ Jennings of Lakin believes there are some good ideas being used at the local level that the state should also support.
Jennings thinks putting kids behind bars ignores the bigger issue of what is best for the child.
An interim committee is already taking another look at this important issue.
