Larsen sitting in prime position after first day of Kansas Junior
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Taylor Larsen figured he had an advantage going into the first round of the Kansas Junior at Buffalo Dunes.
“I think I have the home-field advantage because it’s in Garden City,” he said. “Most of these guys come in here, and because of the wind, they’re mentally done before they ever tee off.”
Larsen got off to a bit of a slow start, parring the first three holes before a bogey on four put him 1-over. But he found his groove after that, firing birdies on six, 11 and 18.
He ended the day at even par, good for fifth place; three shots behind leader Wilson Andress from Macon, GA.
Larsen’s high school teammates Sion Audrain and Logan Durst struggled to find any consistency. Audrain shot 8-over, while Durst is sitting in 75th at 13-over par.
