Larry Myers
Larry Myers, 67, died June 21, 2015 at Via Christie St. Francis Campus in Wichita. He was born on September 10, 1947 in Dodge City, the son of Harvey and Alice (Ewy) Myers.
Larry moved with his family from Dodge City to Wichita. The family then moved to Sublette in June of 1963. Larry graduated from Sublette High School in 1965. He attended Dodge City Community College before joining the United Army, serving during the Vietnam War. After his discharge from the army, he returned to Wichita State University to complete his Bachelor and Masters Degrees. He then went on to Washburn University and obtained his Juris Doctorate. After successfully passing the bar exam, Larry began practicing law in Wichita. In 1978, he opened a satellite office in Garden City. In 1980, he became the sole practitioner of the law firm. Larry was very artistic and enjoyed painting. He also enjoyed traveling to Central America, playing racquetball, and running. His greatest joy was that of his children and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by four children, Eric S. Myers and wife Michelle of La Crosse and Rebecca A. Alexander of Sublette and their mother, Beverly Myers of Sublette, and Alexandria T. Myers of Auckland, New Zealand and Dane H. Myers of Garden City and their mother, Vicki Downey; upheld and loved by Larry are Brandon S. Hatfield of Dodge City and Houston C. Hatfield of Garden City; two brothers, Steve Myers and wife Nikki of Maize and Lynn Myers and wife Connie of Sublette; and four grandchildren, Kennedy L. Myers and Karter R. Myers both of La Crosse and Lyliana K. Alexander and Eli C. Alexander both of Sublette. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Myers.
Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor David Erwin presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 PM.
