Two injured in Lane County accident
LANE COUNTY — Two people have been sent to the Lane County Hospital following a three-vehicle crash just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon on K96, four miles west of Dighton.
A 2011 Chevy Pickup driven by Michael D. McCoy, 36, of Hemingford, Nebraska was eastbound when he went left of the center line and struck a 2018 Ford Passenger Car driven by James D. Foster, 47, of Colby.
The pickup truck rolled into the ditch on the south side of the road and landed upside down. The car ended up in the ditch on the north side and came to rest upright. A 2002 Peterbilt Semi was struck by flying debris from the wreck.
McCoy and another occupant in the vehicle, Jennifer A. Travis, 36, of Cunningham were both taken to the Lane County Hospital with injuries. Travis’ was listed as serious. Both McCoy and Travis were not wearing their seat belts at the time and resulted in McCoy being partially ejected from the vehicle. The 2-year-old occupant in the vehicle was wearing a safety restraint and had no injuries reported according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Foster had reported no injuries and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
