Lady Busters Sweep McCook Nebraska
Garden City – The Busters picked up two come from behind wins against McCook Community College Wednesday at Tangeman Field. Garden City won the opener 4-3 and closer 6-5, sweeping the 4-22 Indians. Freshman Alexandria Barleen, in the final inning of each game came up big. Barleen scored the game winning run in game one and an RBI that sealed the win in game two. In game two, Pitcher Chelsea Justice went the distance to get the win despite giving up a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the seventh the Busters battled back getting their bats on three consecutive singles pulling within in one. Buster Pitcher Kallie Hoover scored on Mekayla Aguiniga’s ground ball fielder’s choice tying the score at five. Alex Aguiniga’s RBI single scored Jalen Espinosa to end the game in regular innings 6-5. Barleen came up big in the bottom of the seventh of game one as well. With the score tied 3-3 Barleen singled. On a sac bunt Barleen was able to reach third safely with gutsy base running. Canadian Emilie Laliberte’s RBI single scored Barleen and game one was in the books. The Busters are 11-12 overall and 5-1 in league play. Garden City hosts league leader Butler County today at Tangeman Field. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2-4pm.
