Lady Buff Harriers Cruise to WAC Title and Dodge City Dominates the Boys Field-Audio

Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – This one may be for the history books, as for the first time in over a decade a trio of runners for Garden City finished 1-2-3 in the Western Athletic Conference meet held at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course on Thursday. The trio of Lady Buff runners included junior Alex Miller winning the overall race in a time of 16:01.30, she was followed by junior Kayla Doll at 16:11.70, followed by junior Chelsea Jackson in 16:19.00. The remaining scorers for Garden City had sophomore Kathryn Doll in 5th, junior Maria Rodriguez placed 8th and Neysa Harmon rounded out the top 10, senior Savannah Peters placed 15th. The Lady Buffs totaled only 19 points for the top team score, Great Bend was a distant 2nd at 67, Dodge City 3rd, followed by Liberal and Hays High. Miller, Kayla and Kathryn Doll, along with Chelsea Jackson were named All-Conference for 2012 and Alex Miller was named the WAC top runner for 2012 and Coach Krista Linenberbger was named Coach of Year and comments on the course and teams performance.

The one-two-three finish by Garden City was the first in a very long time, in the picture from left to right,Chelsea Jackson, Kayla Doll and Alex Miller, talk about the race, the course and their commitment to be the best and their teammates as family.

The Dodge City Red Demon boys Cross Country team dominated the WAC meet in Garden City at Buffalo Dunes late Thursday afternoon, as they scored a team total low of 33 points, Liberal a distant 2nd with 61 points and Garden City placed third with 67 points, followed by Great Bend and Hays High. The Carmona brothers, Oscar 1st in a time of 16:56.80 and Luis 4th led the Red Demons followed by Moe Layne in 7th and Elder Colindres along with Edward Rivera in 11th. The Garden City Buffaloes were led by Jacob Thomas with a 9th place finish in a time of 17:59.30
