Lady Beaver Volleyball putting together a busy summer
Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–The Scott City Lady Beaver volleyball program has seen improvement over the past three seasons, being in the mix each year to compete for a state tournament berth. This summer, the Lady Beavers are changing things up as they prepare for their first competition in 64 days. Shelby Kite returns as the head coach and will be in her third year in that position. Lauren Robinson and Sarah McCormick return as assistants for a second year each.
Instead of going to Hays on Mondays during June, they hosted a camp in the first week of June with the Skylar Del Sol Camp. Last week, the team played in a tournament in Garden City. This week, it was Hutchinson Community College putting on a team camp Monday and Tuesday, followed up by the camp Wednesday and Thursday put on by the Scott City Coaches. Around 25 members comprise of this year’s squad. This year’s schedule allowed the players to work on fundamentals more, and be more competitive in the camps.
In July, Scott City will take players to the University of Nebraska camp in Lincoln.
One big change to the scheudle this year. The Lady Beavers will play in the Hays Tournament on August 31, and not compete in the Oakley Invitational. This allows them to play more matches earlier in the season.
The season begins on Friday, August 30, in Oakley against Oakley and Wallace County.
